What is Pickleball?

Pickleball is fun, social and friendly! The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a fast-paced, competitive game.

It’s essentially a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis. It is played on a badminton-sized court with a slightly modified tennis net, where players use paddles to hit a plastic wiffle ball.  The game can be played as both singles and doubles.

A BRIEF HISTORY

Pickleball was invented in 1965 in Bainbridge Island, a small city just outside of Seattle, United States.  Three dads, Joel Pritchard, Bill Bell and Barney MaCallum, whose kids were bored are crediting with creating the game.  Pickleball has evolved from the original handmade equipment and simple rules into a popular sport throughout the US, and it’s growing in popularity all over the world.
